Accelerate Your Career
On a sunny afternoon in mid-September, the sounds of a well known country western band drifted
through the fields of Piney Glen Farm, site of the annual picnic of one of North America’s leading
corporations.
As groups of people gathered around tables, a black limousine pulled up through
the gates and a well dressed man emerged. He strode briskly across the grounds, but before he
could get too far, his eyes caught sight of a familiar face.
"Jack," he said, raising his hand in greeting, "how are you." "Doing great, Frank," the other man said, walking toward him. They shook hands warmly and spent a few minutes sharing news about their families and their recent activities.
Shortly after Frank moved on to the large white tent set up in the center of the field, one of Jack’s colleagues approached with a smile. "I’m impressed. So how does a sales manager get to know the CEO so well?"
"We go way back," Jack replied. "You see, Frank and I started working here on the same day, in the same department, nearly 25 years ago."
Coaching Makes the Difference
Have you ever wondered how someone like Frank can achieve success seemingly effortlessly – while others, like Jack, work just as hard, but achieve only mediocre results? It isn’t because one is smarter or harder working. It isn’t because one has a better background or greater technical knowledge. And it certainly isn’t because one wants success more than the other.
The major difference between those who rapidly climb the success ladder and those who stall-out is that those who succeed learn and use proven psychological principles and leadership strategies to influence people, make effective decisions and get where they want to go.
